ABG10+® is a clinically-validated (in human trials) aged black garlic extract, standardised for S-Allyl-L-cysteine (SAC) (≥ 0.10%)S-1-Propenyl-L-cysteine (S1PC) (≥ 0.10 mg/g), and S-Allylmercaptocysteine (SAMC) (≥ 0.10 mg/g)  as measured by HPLC.

​​THE STROM ABG10+® GARLIC SUPPLEMENT

Each bottle of the Strom ABG10+® includes 120 capsules of 500mg ABG10+® aged black garlic extract.
This allows for a full 60 serves of the 1g dose, well above what has seen benefit in human clinical trials.
The reason we choose this much higher dose is based off our own in house testing of ABG10+® and similar extracts in our PED enhanced athletes, in this case more is better.  No fairy dusting, no “one a day” nonsense – just what the science and real world practice shows actually works.

THE ABG10+® BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS

  1. S-Allyl-L-cysteine (SAC): stands out as the most stable and bioavailable compound, and has been widely studied for its potent antioxidant and cardioprotective properties, particularly in the inhibition of oxidative damage.

  2. S-1-Propenyl-L-cysteine (S1PC): this is a same atomic make up as SAC, but with a different arrangement of bonds. Similarly has also been shown to have valuable antioxidant and cardioprotective properties, likely to a slightly lesser degree due to reduced stability.

  3. ​S-Allylmercaptocysteine (SAMC): this is a more reactive cysteine compound that act as a precursor to many other valuable cysteines. Existing research around points to more direct anti-inflammatory pathway modulation outcomes than the antioxidant mechanisms of the other two compounds.

 Abg10+ includes a host of other bioactive compounds, however the three above are what have been validated in research to be of particular cardiovascular health value.

ABG10+® HAS TESTED TO SHOW IT MEETS LABEL CLAIM

It should also be highlighted, while many companies claim to contain standardised doses of compounds like SAC in their aged garlics, a vast many do not meet their label claim - not even close. In the comparative study you can find at reference [6], two approached were optimised for the detection of SAC and used to measure 24 commercial aged garlic extracts.

  • Most unstandardised extracts did not contain any detectable, or meaningful level of SAC.

  • Only 50% of the standardised extracts could be considered to meet claim within fair tolerance.

  • Many of the extracts showed that they had been processed by ethanol extraction, not "aged" as they claim. 

  • Two samples showed that they had been fraudulently dosed with synthetic SAC not from natural origin, resulting in a very different bioactive profile to true aged garlic.

ABG10+® has been demonstrated to meet claim on its bioactive components, DNA tested for species, and as of single source origin with entirely traceable supply we know the processing is consistent to create a true aged garlic.

HOW IS ABG10+® GARLIC SOURCED AND MADE?

Pharmactive, the manufacturer, cultivate garlic in their own fields located in Castilla la Mancha, Spain - using traditional growth and harvesting methods. The Pharmactive Abg10+® comes from a specialised variety of garlic, which provides with better organoleptic properties than regular white garlic.
As with any plant, garlic's bioactive contents will vary throughout the growing season as the bulb matures.
One of Abg10+®'s unique features is that the garlic is gathered exactly when the concentration of SAC is at peaking concentrations in the bulb.

Abg10+® is produced via a "Maillard reaction" through Pharmactive´s proprietary process.

ABG10+® IMPROVED DIASTOLIC BLOOD PRESSURE FOR HIGH CHOLESTEROL MEN (2022)

Sixty-seven high cholesterol men with low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels ≥6.4mmol/L were randomized in a crossover, double-blind, sustained, and controlled intervention study. The participants consumed 250 mg ABG10+® per day, or a placebo for 6 weeks, with 3 weeks of washout. 
At 6 weeks, ABG extract reduced diastolic blood pressure (heart contracted) −5.85 mm Hg compared to the placebo, particularly in men with a DBP > 75 mm Hg. No significant improvements in lipids. [1]

ABG10+® IMPROVED DIASTOLIC & SYSTOLIC BLOOD PRESSURE FOR ALREADY MEDICATED PERSONS WITH TYPE 1 HYPERTENSION (2023)

A randomized, triple-blind, placebo-controlled parallel trial was developed, where a daily supplementation with 250 mg ABG10+® per day for 12 weeks, or placebo, was consumed. This was in patients with diagnosed grade 1 hypertension, meaning a blood pressure reading of 130-139 mmHg systolic or 80-89 mmHg diastolic. These people were already taking one or more medication, excluding ACE inhibitors, hence the trial is determining the ability of ABG10+® to provide additional improvements beyond the medication.
A reduction in systolic (-1.8 mmHg) and diastolic blood (-1.5 mmHg) pressure was observed. An increase in blood nitric oxide and antioxidant capacity and a reduction in uric acid levels, and ACE activity were observed. No changes in endothelial function and inflammatory cytokines were observed. [2]

ABG10+® HAD CARDIOPROTECTIVE EFFECTS IN RATS IN OXYGEN STRESS CONDITIONS (2016)

30 Rat hearts were pre-treated either with ABG10+ or vehicle and subjected to 30 min ischaemia followed by 45 min reperfusion. Treatment with ABG10+ increased the expression of inflammatory and oxidative markers, it also increases antioxidant mechanisms, which may explain its protective effect during return of oxygen supply to starved tissue. [4]

ABG10+® HAD METABOLIC & VASCULAR PROTECTIVE EFFECTS IN RATS EATING A POOR DIET (2019)

Rats were fed either a standard chow (SC; n = 12) , or a high-fat, high sucrose diet (HFD; n = 24) for 16 weeks. From week 8 on, half of the HFD rats were treated with a ABG10+® at 250 mg/kg daily. 
ABG10+® reduced metabolic and vascular damage induced by a high-fat/high-sucrose diet in rats through modifications in the gene expression involved in inflammation, fat metabolism and food intake regulation. [5]

ARE THESE ABG10+® BLOOD PRESSURE IMPROVEMENTS MEANINGFUL TO HEALTH OUTCOMES?

A modest blood pressure reduction can lead to meaningful gains in preventing incidents or recurrent cardiovascular disease. Even a 2 mmHg lower usual systolic blood pressure would mean about 10% lower stroke mortality and about 7% lower mortality from ischaemic heart disease or other vascular causes in middle age. [3]
